We
leave Denver at 7:30 a.m. seven days a week and drive to the
Nature Center on the Arkansas River west of the the city of
Pueblo. This is an Adventure in itself. From the Nature Center,
you will start the Bike Adventure by riding about 20 miles
downstream along the Arkansas River. This ride crosses the
river a number of times on a wide variety of bridges. This
Adventure is on one of the oldest bike trails in the state.
The trail ranges from 3 to 7 feet wide and ranges from dirt
to old pavement and concrete. There is a lot of different
vegetation along the ride. Near the last 3 1/2 miles of the
trail, you enter a wide concrete channel for the river where
local artists have painted mural art on the north wall and
graffiti artists have expressed themselves on the south side.
We will have time to stop and take photos along the way. You
will be riding down to the Historic city of Pueblo, known
for its Railroad and steel mills. This old trail is a little
rough in places but well worth the Adventure. This Adventure
takes about 6 to 7 hours from start to finish. To ride
on any of the Tours and Adventures, you must be 13 years or
older, with the exception of the Mount Evans and Vail Pass
Adventures - you must have a valid driver's license to participate
in these two events.
